Westfield town council met June 2 with Mayor W B Neal presiding. Minutes treasurer and sewer reports were read and approved. A fee of 2.50 was approved for all dogs picked up by authorized persons. Cigarette permit applications by the Knotty Keg and Westfield Skelly were granted. The 1975 76 budget was presented to the state highway commission. Meeting adjourned.

Stubborn Cottonwood Stands After Farm Fire Near Carson
A magnificent old cottonwood on the Walter Doyle farm near Carson resisted removal. A bulldozer circled the trunk, then burning was attempted but failed to fell the tree. The tree, about 36 feet in circumference, remains blackened but upright after the blaze.
