Noble Reunion Held in Local Park July 17

The sixth annual Noble relatives reunion occurred at the Legion Hall on July 17 with large attendance from Illinois California Nebraska Minnesota Missouri and other parts of Iowa. Next year’s date was set for the third Sunday in July at the same location. The Sioux Valley Extension Club will meet at Mrs W J Davidson’s home on Friday July 29. Your Mysterys Sister will be revealed.

Death Comes to Harry A Barker

Harry A Barker 63 died July 20 1955 at Hawarden Hospital following a life spent on the Preston township Plymouth county home farm after World War I service. Survived by brothers W E and Walter and Charles, sister Mrs George Fara. Funeral July 24 Plymouth Presbyterian Church with grave at Plymouth Cemetery. Members of Hoschler Post American Legion Akron aided, with a $900 grant from Federal Cartridge Corporation. Campers learn about natural resources through ISU staff and conservation officials guidance through field trips and lectures.

Akron and Sioux Center Battle Inning by Inning Baseball Tilt

In a Northwest Town league game Akron lost to Sioux Center 8 to 5 after a high scoring first four innings. Grotenhuis and Borchers pitched for Sioux Center and Akron respectively as Grotenhuis hit a homer and W Juffer led Sioux Center with a triple. Fielding highlights included Cliff Miller’s one handed catch.

First Church of Christ to Hold Sunday Services

Holiday Ahoy talent show sails to Akron Ball Park

Big home talent production Holiday, Ahoy! opens Thursday and Friday at Akron Ball Park with curtain at 8 07. Spon sored by Akron Commercial Club to raise funds for Booster Day on August 12. Seventy five to a hundred locals portray TV radio and movie stars plus sailors cowboys and an island tribe. Akron Junior Legion Baseball Team Breaks Even

The Akron Junior Legion squad split two games last week. They lost 3 to 0 to Yankton Junior All Stars at Yankton, South Dakota, then won 17 to 12 against Hawarden Juniors. Battery were Brown and Krause against Yankton. Heyl Lucken and Brown plus Krause catching against Hawarden. Elk Point Juniors visit August 1 with Akron hosting August 8. Akron Midgets enter Sub-District tournament soon at Sioux Center.

Akron Booster Day Promises Free Festivities For All

Arrangements for Akron's Booster Day on Friday August 12 feature a 1 00 p m street parade with floats bands and Davy Crockett. A 2 00 p m free baseball game Akron vs Remsen follows, then races and sports with prizes. A 5 00 p m free horse show and a park picnic with free ice cream precede an evening address by Don Cunningham at 7 30 p m and two free dances at 9 00 p m sponsored by the Akron Commercial Club.

Akron Youth Selected for State 4-H Conservation Camp

Alan Lucken 16 of Akron and Donna Peterson 17 of Washington Workers club were chosen by Plymouth County Extension to attend Iowa's seventeenth Annual State 4-H Conservation Camp at the State 4-H Camp near Madison July 25 to 29. Lucken has six years in 4-H and soil and water work. Peterson has seven years and her farm demonstrates contouring. The camp is conducted by Iowa State Extension Service. FIRST PLYMOUTH PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH announcements note services and meetings with a special offering for the Presbyterian camp.
