County ASC Election Results Announced In Plymouth County

Results of the annual ASC community elections conducted by mail from July 6 through July 13 were announced this week by the Plymouth County ASC office. A total of 782 ballots were cast, 165 more than last year. New county and community committeemen take office August 1, with the convention at ASC Office LeMars on July 28 to select key officers and members. List of newly elected committeemen across Grant Hancock Johnson Portland Preston Sioux Washington Westfield townships provided. Also noted, James Fries of Sioux Industries discusses factors to increase cattle gain, including 15 pounds of live rumen bacteria per ton of supplement and the combined use of live yeast culture with live-remen bacteria. Diethylstilbestrol effectiveness noted as well.

Yeast and Feed Factors Alter Cattle Diet in Dakotas

A report by Mr Fries based on Nebraska and South Dakota field observations notes that yeast and rumen bacteria additives reduce corn consumption by feeders. Some cattlemen report 144 pounds of 32 percent cattle supplement plus live yeast culture can replace two pounds or more of the same supplement without the two yeast factors. In Vermilion, a Lambda Chi Alpha member Kennedy with Akron ties attends the University of South Dakota. Lilly, a Westfield High graduate of 1953, also attends USD and belongs to Theta Xi. Both reflect post high school paths in 1950s fraternity life.
