He notes many drivers disobey signals, hazards from weather, and the challenge of cleaning sunlit store windows. The region saw light rain improving mood after weeks of dry weather.
The Akron Register-Tribune lists upcoming local gatherings for July and August including Chicken Little at 5 30 p m on July 22 and 29, YoMaCo Study group, hospital auxiliary, First Baptist Mary circle, TOPS Club 893, Rainbow sandwich salad and pie supper on August 7 serving from 5 to 7 30 p m. The notice reflects town events and organizational meetings in Akron Iowa with times and venues.
The regular monthly meeting of the Northwest Regional Library board of trustees will be held Thursday July 29 at 3 p m in Spencer at the public library. The Danbury Review notes a tulip tree in Mrs Edna Ahlwardt's yard that has bloomed this year after more than twenty years without blossoms.
Forty four readers have participated in the summer reading program with a READO bingo style system. The last day is Saturday July 24 and a final story hour occurs on Tuesday July 27. About 30 children attend each hour and many return weekly for the special children hour.

The 38th Hummel reunion met Sunday July 11 1976 at the American Legion hall Akron with 66 members and two guests Rodney and Rhonda Westcox of Raymond Nebraska. Longest distance attendees were Gordon Hummel and Judy and Jody Kaarup of Overbrook Kansas. New officers elected Mac Thorson Akron president Raymond Olson Sioux City vice president treasurer Verda Klapprodt secretary. A get well card was sent to Geo Kenneth Hummel Des Moines and to Mrs June Slyter Grand Rapids Minnesota. Three births three 25th wedding anniversaries and one 50th wedding anniversary occurred during the year with five deaths recorded. Next year’s reunion set for the second Sunday in July 1977 at the same place.
Mr and Mrs H P Andersen and their son C D Boden and family spent three weeks in Colorado visiting relatives. Guests included Gordon Boden and family of Anaheim California and Jerry Boden and son of Seattle. The group enjoyed a week at Grand Lake Colorado.
A lengthy nursing home log records numerous visits from relatives and friends including Pastor Luther Meyer and Rev. Robert Salge. Activities feature bingo, birthday celebrations, lunch service, and piano playing with residents and guests from Akron Westfield Le Mars Sioux City and Merrill Iowa with multiple family names noted.
The 13th annual Josiah Taylor family reunion took place Saturday July 17 at the Dayton home of Kenneth and Kathy Taylor with a noon picnic. Attendees included Lowell Taylor of Oskaloosa Eugene Taylor Robert Taylor Randy Wilson Wesley Wilson Scott and Douglas Taylor from Aurora Colorado and other Taylors from Cedar Falls Des Moines Akron and surrounding areas.

The Ohirichs family reunion was held July 11 at Akron city park with 47 people present. Since the last gathering there has been one birth and one marriage. Attendees came from Le Mars Merrill Ireton and Council Bluffs. The planning committee for next year is George Johnson and Wm Toel.
Former pastors Rev Chester Guinn and family from Perry Iowa and Rev George Rice and family from Indianapolis visited Akron to attend the North Central Jurisdictional conference in Sioux Falls South Dakota. The ministers previously exchanged pastors with Akron in 1962 as part of race relations efforts, with Guinn and family well received in Kansas City and the Rices serving a church in Indianapolis the past two years.
Arlan Beech issued licenses to William Anthony Henke twenty five of Akron and Linda Sue Altena twenty one of Hawarden.
Two Sioux City residents were among about 170 Lutheran Brotherhood district representatives at a regional sales conference June 18 22 at the Shara Tahoe Lake Tahoe Nevada. William Hust CLA and Melvin Lubben FIC earned the trip by qualifying for the top 1975 sales club. Mike Johnson agency Sioux City based. James Merrill of Lutheran Social Service of North Dakota spoke. discussions covered improved member services with home office personnel and leading representatives.
Bridget McKee and Eugene E. Stabe of Akron were married June 26 1976 at Trinity Lutheran Church Akron. The bride daughter of Clyde P. McKee Jr and the groom son of Gene R. Stabe wore a white polysheen gown with a chapel train and Venice lace. Officiant Rev Durwood Clauson. Attendants wore pink and blue gowns with floral accents. After a reception in the church hall the couple will reside in Tennessee after Navy schooling for him. Both graduates of Akron Community High School.
Mr and Mrs Wendall Gronemeyer of rural Ireton announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter Kathy to Russell Barnes son of Mr and Mrs Ronald Barnes of Harmony Minnesota. The couple are students at Mankato State College Minnesota and plan a September 4 wedding at St John s Lutheran Church Craig Iowa.
The 8th district quarterly meeting of the Veterans of World War I and auxiliary seats a potluck at noon July 23 in the Hinton Community hall. Joint session starts at 1 pm led by Commander George Bern. Barracks and auxiliary hold separate 1:30 pm meetings with department officers as guests. Refreshments follow by Plymouth County Barracks 1507 and auxiliary.
