Shorty warns travelers to maintain driving awareness during vacations as highway work on routes 12 and 3 slows traffic. He notes many drivers disobey signals, hazards from weather, and the challenge of cleaning sunlit store windows. The region saw light rain improving mood after weeks of dry weather.

Northwest Regional Library trustees meet July 29 at 3 pm

The regular monthly meeting of the Northwest Regional Library board of trustees will be held Thursday July 29 at 3 p m in Spencer at the public library. The Danbury Review notes a tulip tree in Mrs Edna Ahlwardt's yard that has bloomed this year after more than twenty years without blossoms.

Final Week for Summer Reading Program Ends Soon

Forty four readers have participated in the summer reading program with a READO bingo style system. The last day is Saturday July 24 and a final story hour occurs on Tuesday July 27. About 30 children attend each hour and many return weekly for the special children hour.

Hummel descendants hold 38th annual reunion in Akron

The 38th Hummel reunion met Sunday July 11 1976 at the American Legion hall Akron with 66 members and two guests Rodney and Rhonda Westcox of Raymond Nebraska. Longest distance attendees were Gordon Hummel and Judy and Jody Kaarup of Overbrook Kansas. New officers elected Mac Thorson Akron president Raymond Olson Sioux City vice president treasurer Verda Klapprodt secretary. A get well card was sent to Geo Kenneth Hummel Des Moines and to Mrs June Slyter Grand Rapids Minnesota. Three births three 25th wedding anniversaries and one 50th wedding anniversary occurred during the year with five deaths recorded. Next year’s reunion set for the second Sunday in July 1977 at the same place.

Colorado Visit With Andersen Family Ends With Lake Stay

Former pastors visit in Akron church outreach

Former pastors Rev Chester Guinn and family from Perry Iowa and Rev George Rice and family from Indianapolis visited Akron to attend the North Central Jurisdictional conference in Sioux Falls South Dakota. The ministers previously exchanged pastors with Akron in 1962 as part of race relations efforts, with Guinn and family well received in Kansas City and the Rices serving a church in Indianapolis the past two years.

Two Sioux City residents were among about 170 Lutheran Brotherhood district representatives at a regional sales conference June 18 22 at the Shara Tahoe Lake Tahoe Nevada. Bridget McKee and Eugene E. Stabe of Akron were married June 26 1976 at Trinity Lutheran Church Akron. The bride daughter of Clyde P. McKee Jr and the groom son of Gene R.
