A basket dinner followed by visiting and photo taking marked the Knapp gathering at the Jack Knapp home. Remembering Capitalism in Electric Industry Speech near Fresno
In mid June a public ceremony near Fresno California dedicated an $80 million hydroelectric project financed built and operated by a taxed electric company. The company president urged defense of capitalism noting every homeowner saver and policy holder is a capitalist and criticizing calls for socialism as dangerous to free enterprise. He warned that undermining basic industry weakens the entire economy and urged officials and business leaders to protect the system.

Union County 4-H Club Camp Attracts 62 Members
Fifty two Union County 4-H youths joined the club camp July 29 to August 1 under county extension agent Harmon Boyd. The rainy cool weather limited outdoor activities but evenings featured music and games. Camp included woodwork, indoor cookery, first aid, artificial respiration, and recreation such as kittenball and volleyball. Jeffrey Chicoine of Elk Point was elected boys camp chief and a Hand County girl led the girls. About 140 members from Hand Union and Gregory counties attended, with Union contributing 62 campers including 35 girls and 13 boys.

Plymouth County growers will have 1959 crop soybeans supported at 1.78 per bushel for No 2 grade with 13.8 to 14 percent moisture. Support available via farm and warehouse loans and purchase agreements from harvest through Jan 31 1960 with loans due May 31 1960. Eligibility requires No 4 or better soybeans with moisture not exceeding 14 percent. Premiums and discounts apply for factors like foreign material moisture test weight and kernel damage.
