Summer Concert Program Includes Bell Overure and Bach
The July 9, 1969 summer concert directed by Stan Hansen features Laureate Overture Olivadoti Thou Be, Bach R Li Moehlmann Stutesville, Joy Seipps Flute Solo a Hot Time in the Brasses, My Faith Looks Up to Thee, Highlights from The Sound of Music, Balling the Jack, Sound And Fury and Our National Anthem. Next week will feature the stage band with soloist Dianna Moffat. Rehearsal July 15 is for the stage band only. July 23 concert postponed due to Casavant Marching Band Workshop in Rock Island Illinois. Cayla Klemme and Mr Hansen attend July 21–26 workshop.

Akron Nine Shuts Out Beresford Then Tops Vermillion
The Akron baseball team split Lewis and Clark League games last week. They beat Beresford 4 0 on July 4 behind Jack Borchers three hit pitching. Akron led in the seventh with a three run rally and added another in the eighth. Fritz Murrell Gary Cameron and Bill Hanson each had two hits. They then lost 17 4 to Vermillion Red Sox in a Sunday game. Next, Akron travels to Yankton on Thursday and Crofton Neb comes Sunday for a league tilt.

A seven inch cloudburst north of Rock Rapids caused the Big Sioux River to rise flooding South Dakota Highway 48 northwest of Akron at about 7:00 am Wednesday.
