Shorty Akron notes church participation in a survey about the Fish program. Akron’s local chapter will cooperate with the community to address needs and invites all citizens to attend the industrial development meeting at Akron High School January 29 with Rev. Durwood Clausen as moderator to learn more.

Long list of residents and guests visit the nursing home. Names include Mr. and Mrs. Claus Frerichs of Le Mars, Gert Satthoff, Russell Daniels and family of Merrill, Minnie Postlewait, Westfield and St John Lutheran hostesses, and many others from Le Mars, Sioux City, Brunsville, Hawarden, and Spink. Activities feature sandwiches, bingo, a red carnat ion corsage, lap robes, and Christmas gifts. Members report better health as weather warms.
Westfield residents visit neighbors in Akron Le Mars and Cherokee. Veterans sponsor bingo for Sioux Falls hospital patients with Plymouth county district 8 participation. Westfield girls beat Akron 66 45 with Lisa Miller scoring 29. Upcoming events: Hull Western Christian at January 25 and Westfield Homecoming January 26 with a 6 45 game time and coronation dance.
Dianna Lynn Moffatt and Mark Lee Ellerbroek exchanged vows at 2 p.m. December 23, 1973, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Akron with Rev. Ralph Burdette officiating. The ceremony featured a crepe gown with Venise lace, a colonial bouquet, and attendants in burgundy and pink. A reception followed at the church with about 200 guests, after which the couple planned to reside in Le Mars.
Mr and Mrs Wendell Granstrom announce the engagement of their daughter Wendy to Steve Blum son of Mr and Mrs Glenn Ballantyne of Spirit Lake Iowa Wendy is employed by Peterson Music Co Marshall Minnesota and he is a senior at Southwest Minnesota State College in Marshall A summer wedding is planned
Deane E. Lee, daughter of Clarence Kallsen, route 4 Le Mars, earned a perfect 4.0 for the first semester of 1973-74 at Morningside College and was named to the dean's honor roll by Dr. Raymond Nelson. The honor roll covers roughly the top ten percent of students. Deane is the granddaughter of Jess Kallsen and Henry Helmrichs family of Akron.
Harry Klemme was celebrated on Friday January 18 for his 86th birthday. Attendees included Mr. and Mrs. John Frisk Mr. Fred Claesson Sr Mr. Arthur Brundeen Pastor and Mrs D Roy Mr. and Mrs Embert Klemme Mrs Ella Willer Mr. and Mrs Fred Dirks Mr. and Mrs Ted Willer and Karen Willer.
R Pat Coady librarian at Le Mars and Daisy Ehrich librarian at Cherokee were named to the advisory council of the Northwest Regional Library System. The council helps advise the administrator for nineteen northwestern Iowa counties. Coady and Ehrich represented O'Brien Plymouth and Cherokee counties at the quarterly Sioux City meeting on January 22.
Public notice states that the signer will not be responsible for debts except those personally contracted. Name Darrell Kiewel appears with Akron Iowa as location.
Wartburg college in Waverly named Jim Haage to its dean's honor list for the fall term. Haage, a junior from Akron, meets the 3.25 GPA threshold and four course credits. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerd Haage of rural Akron.
A grateful note expresses thanks for being chosen Senior Citizen of the Month. The writer credits VIS SEEUEAVES for thoughtful cards and visits, calls the honor a big surprise, and says it made for a very happy birthday.
Mary Boetger thanks friends and relatives for cards letters visits and calls and thanks Doctors Nurses hospital staff and Pastor Roy for visits prayers and support during her stay at St Josephs Hospital and after returning home.

Karen Kristine Overby and Eugene Scott Reynolds wed December 29 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Hurley South Dakota. The couple will reside in Alameda California where both serve in the U S Navy. Karen is the granddaughter of Mrs John Overby of Alcester SD.

Westmar College will stage Meredith Willson’s The Music Man on Friday and Saturday February 1 and 2. The production features over 70 cast members led by Neil Vik as Harold Hill and Nancy Scholten as Marian the Librarian with performances at 8 p.m. in the Le Mars Community Junior High School auditorium. Tickets are $1.50 for adults and $1.00 for students, on sale at the Westmar College switchboard.
The ISU Extension Service TV Livestock Facility Series is postponed one week due to a programming conflict. The first 30 minute program airs January 26 at 1 30 p.m. on KCAU TV Channel 9, with each subsequent program moved one week later. Earl Mobley notes the new date.
