Rebounds Decide Varsity and B Team Losses for Raiders
In a Friday doubleheader Central Lyon Lions edged the Raiders. The B game Akron Bees managed 17 total rebounds and 75 percent free throw shooting, 85 percent from the field, with Bob Brown grabbing 6 boards and Wayne Von Hagel scoring 15. The Bees fell 40 to 29. In the varsity, Raiders had 28 rebounds, shot 50 percent from the line and 284 from the field. Terry Jacobs led with 16 points and Bill Michael supported the pace.

Plymouth county hog producers took ten winnings in the Top Quality Hog Contest at Sioux City stockyards, with Akron area hogmen leading towns. Ben J. Hillrichs of Akron was the county’s sole weekly winner and tallied multiple bonuses totaling 158.83 dollars plus a weekly per hundredweight bonus.
