Westfield hosts Congregational Ladies Aid meeting January 20 at 2 p.m. with Evelyn Banks and Shirley Banks as hostesses and Betty Brown leading the program. The Federal Land Bank Association of Sioux City Iowa reports a 1965 long term loan total of 1 449 900 up 219 500 from 1964 the highest in its history. Area farmers in four counties plus Dakota county Nebraska boost lending while 11 365 000 in long term loans outstanding sets an all time high with over 381 341 in dividends paid to about 900 stockholders.

Iowa vocational agriculture reaches over twenty five thousand farmers

In the 1964 1965 Iowa public school programs 25714 farmers joined vocational agriculture including adult and young farmer classes. 11452 adults enrolled in 240 departments while 763 young men aged 20 to 20 participated in 41 departments. Classes averaged 48 students with 21.6 per meeting and 10.6 meetings per adult class. Topics covered farming methods current problems and solutions guided by advisory councils. Funding details outline federal allocations under the Vocational Education Acts and Smith Hughes Act with Iowa and Town receiving multi million dollar supports.

Census survey on hired farm work hunting and fishing

The Census Bureau conducted December surveys in this area as part of the Current Population Survey. Director Guy A. Lutz noted the farm work survey measures full and part time hired work for the U S Department of Agriculture, while the hunting and fishing survey collects national data for the Interior Department.
