Funeral services for Mrs. John Miniets in Craig Iowa

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at St. John Lutheran Church Craig for Mrs. John Miniets 84 with Rev Orval Friedrich officiating Burial followed at the church cemetery under Mauer Funeral Home direction Casket bearers included Harvey Ludwigs Vernion Ludwigs Henry D Ludwigs John Tammen George Popken and William Warenhorst She was born Helena Ludwigs December 5 1885 in Grant township Plymouth County daughter of Henry and Anna Hartmann Ludwigs Married September 27 1906 the couple farmed in Grant and Portland townships before moving to Craig in 1948 Preceded in death by her husband in 1966 six brothers and three sisters Survivors include a son John of rural Akron a daughter Mrs Glenn Anna Boisen of Holland Minnesota two grandchildren Dennis Miniets and Shirley Miersma and one great granddaughter Michelle Miersma

Westmar College Students Honored In Interim Period

Akron and LeMars residents figure among Westmar College students named to the Dean's Honor Roll for the first semester. Among honorees are Beverly Swift and a group of freshmen, with the dean noting 188 of 1,065 full-time students on the list. Seventy four Augustana College students ranked in the top GPA band 3.8 to 4.0 according to grade reports from the registrar for the first semester. A 4.0 average equals straight A’s. Included on the honor list were Marl Nannen and Dianna Willer of Akron.

Phi Kappa Phi at Iowa State University initiated 226 members at a banquet held Wednesday evening February 11. The class includes 11 faculty members, 66 graduate students, and 149 undergraduates. One new member is Robert D. Wye of Akron.
