Reverend Charles Kruse visited the Henry Collmann home on Thursday afternoon. Numerous Akron residents hosted dinners and attended gatherings at friends and relatives across the area, including Moehlman, Buchman, Repp, and Collmann households, with several Sunday luncheons and card parties noted.
Social rounds fill weekends with hospitality as Mr and Mrs Charles Hendricks host in Ver million. groups from Sioux City Omaha Akron and Ames visit relatives in Hawarden and nearby farms. Gary Moller travels to Phoenix while Henry Specht returns from Iowa City. Various guests attend dinners and luncheons at the homes of the Mollers Beech Eilers and others.
Paul Herman Papritz died January 27 1971 at Akron Hospital after a three week illness. He was 77 and born January 8 1894 in Galva Iowa. He lived in the Akron area most of his life and married Lena G Willer in 1933. Surviving are his wife daughter Mavis Hansen three grandchildren and several siblings. Funeral at Immanuel Lutheran Akron with burial at Riverside Cemetery. Also named Dean List honors include Beverly A Senft of Akron for first semester 1970 71 at Morningside College.

It directs creaming butter and sugar then adding wet and dry ingredients, dropping by spoonfuls on a sheet and baking at 350 degrees for about 36 cookies with frosting after cooling.
Johnson Township Farm Bureau, meeting at Viola Brown's home on January 12, adopted resolutions for the New Year, reviewed program books, and discussed pollution. Members planned to bring the Spokesman to the next meeting, enjoyed a quiz and singing, and noted a Thank You card from the County Home. Viola Brown serves as Publicity Chairman.
A thankful message expresses gratitude for cards and calls received during a hospital stay and after returning home in Sioux City. Special thanks go to Pastor Claugon Chaplain Johnson and doctors Trat zig Hyden and Brown along with hospital staff for their prayers calls and care.
Union County Farm Bureau executive board held its annual oyster stew supper January 23 in Alcester REA room. Mrs Ofstahage and Mrs Gunderson led, a short business meeting followed with routine reports, bills paid, and committee chairmen’s updates. Discussions covered personal property tax law, the Pierre young farmers ranchers meeting in February, and the Sioux Falls program meeting January 25-26. Two films were shown Recreation on the Lakes of South Dakota and The Panama Canal. A birthday cake with ice cream closed the evening. Public Relations: Mrs Clarence Carlson.

It yields 2,400 pounds of protein per acre, rivaling meat. an area slightly larger than Texas could meet global protein demand. Experts Herb Howell and Larry Trede lead discussions on financial analysis, capital needs, farm records, and cash flow budgeting at the K C Hall LeMars. First National Bank of LeMars co-sponsors with a noon lunch.
Iowa Easter Seal Campaign announces county and township committee chairs with names and towns. The Easter Seal drive runs March 1 to April 11, 1971, with LeMars and surrounding areas listed among assisting organizations and clubs.
Farm Credit Management session planned for Tuesday February 9 from 9 30 to 3 30 at the K C Hall in LeMars to help farmers assess 1970 losses and secure operating funds. Extension economists Herb Howell and Larry Trede will lead. First National Bank of LeMars backs the event. Waverly notes centenarian Quince Lauer honored at a January 3 open house for his 100th birthday.
