Sweethearts Ball Plans Set By FFA FHA Officers

On Thursday January 20 officers from the FFA and FHA met briefly to form planning committees for the annual Sweethearts Ball scheduled February 18 in the school gym. Committees will organize decorations program and refreshments.

Fifth and Sixth Grade Math Highlights and Struggles

Our table shows various containers for measuring and many problems with measurements. Sixth grade students study adding subtracting multiplying and dividing with measures. A bright red bulletin board features a lightning two place multiplication method. Fifth graders work on fractions and regrouping in adding and subtracting mixed fractions using a flannel board for demonstration.

Norka staff begin work on 1966 program

Norka staff started on the 1966 Norka Thursday January 27 after school. A sale runs January 31 to February 4 at the high school during noon hours and at Dr Garvin's office on Saturday February 5. Down payment is two dollars with fifty cents for name engraving. Full prices are three dollars fifty cents and four dollars.

Students to join 280 piece All Northwest Iowa Band

Linda Heyl Justin Hebeler and Karen Taylor from Akron school selected to play in the 280 piece All Northwest Iowa Band. Auditions were in Storm Lake in January with a Cherokee concert at Washington High School Auditorium at 8 00 p m on February 5. Prof Butler Eitel of Macalester College St Paul Minn directs the band.
