The Ball Bros. hosted an oyster supper last Thursday night, yielding a neat sum. Oysters and crackers donated by Harry Ball were greatly appreciated by the Ladies' Aid. Christmas day hosts included Mr. and Mrs. Earl Brubaker and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Welch with son Orville. Harley Goodroad and family joined guests at George Carlson home. Connie Greenwood also noted.
Special Correspondence from Chatsworth notes Erma and Carol Johnson and Edith Bennett spend the holidays at home. Fred Jensen of Belle Fourche, S.D., visits his mother and sister. Rein Kiewel of Beresford South Dakota has heart trouble and is bedridden on a liquid diet but improving. Christmas visits included Will Kiewel, John Remis, and Robt Fickbohm at the Beresford area and Dakota County. Lois Kiewel vacationing with the Will Kiewel home. Jack Cale returned from Sioux City eye surgery with pain and possible eyesight recovery. Family Christmas gatherings were held at multiple homes including Robt Brundeen and Robt Anderson. Tony Bockelman sprained ankle and several others visited Erickson and Lorensen households for Christmas.
Warren J. King, Mrs. Anna Greene and Mr and Mrs H A Johnson left Saturday for a visit in the Rev and Mrs Jones home in Nebraska. They returned home Monday evening. Mr and Mrs J H Baker and son Carol and daughter Darlene of Winner S D spent Sunday and Monday. In the W W Zellers home, Mrs Nelson Patrick and daughter of near Quimby Ia spent the weekend in the home of her mother Mrs Ala Morehead. Mr and Mrs A M Johnson and son Paul and daughter Naomi left Saturday morning for Dumont Iowa for a several days visit in the Edwin Brown home. Mr and Mrs Thos Dreeszen enter-
Mr and Mrs H F Dreeszen and sons Arch John Merlin Roy and daughter Ferne hosted a Sunday dinner with Mr and Mrs B J Dreeszen and daughters Arlene and Doris from Milnerville. Leone Zellers of Sioux City visited WoW Zellers home weekend. Dwight and Wallace Brown stay with grandparents H F Dreeszen in Milnerville. Bertha Erickson and Ada Irene Zellers were ill last week causing school absence. Prayer meeting set for Wednesday at Charles Johnson home.
Not much news this week as residents stay near firesides over the holidays. Mrs L I Taylor recovers from a short illness and various locals visit, with Christmas dinners and home visits noted. Several families travel, while a Home Project meeting is mentioned and Ray Ogden suffers a neck boil. George Christensen has a serious woodcutting accident. Harold Pollock and Gloria Halvor sen were tardy this week with no absences. A Christmas party occurred Friday with a Fourth grade skit. Kindergartners and First graders heard stories read by Donna Davis and Frances Scott. A in Spelling went to many students including Harold Pollock and Frances Scott. Sixteen gold stars in Spelling on Wednesday. Teachers and students enjoyed the party. Junior High hosted a Christmas celebration with group singing and varied per grade performances featuring Jack-in-the-Box and other skits.
Iowa yields more than six million acres of oats annually while flax covers about 20 000 acres. From 1928 to 1932 oats averaged 9 9 5 per acre and flax 14 3 4 per acre. Flax production supports domestic demand with imports offsetting any surplus, suggesting little chance of overproduction. Residents are urged to share news items with the Register Tribune.
LeMars jurist Judge C. C. Bradley will retire from the district bench and become trustee for Royal Union Life Insurance assets, with January 2 set as his start date. The governor will appoint a successor. Bradley will work in Des Moines on a multimillion dollar guardianship, maintaining residence in LeMars.
