Spot motor vehicle inspection law in Iowa

Le Mars Named ARC Fund Drive Chairman for 1975

Dr. L. C. O'Toole chairs a Plymouth county ARC drive with a $5,000 goal to aid special education and training facilities, research, camping, summer programs, parent counseling, and retardation handbooks. Letters have gone to county residents as 84,000 Iowa mentally retarded individuals are cited and about 100 school-age children live in Plymouth county.

Anita Henrich of Akron was among 103 Briar Cliff college students named to the dean's list for the first term of 1975-76. To qualify, full time students must maintain at least a 3.50 GPA. 31 students earned a perfect 4.0. Anita is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Gerald F Henrich, rural route 1, Akron, and a 1975 Akron Community High School graduate.

Eastern Star Elects New Officers At Vesper Chapter

Mrs. Fred Hansen Jr. elected Worthy Matron and Paul Steel as Worthy Patron in a Vesper chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. County residents back Gift of Life drive in Plymouth County

Gordon L. Mennen of Le Mars reports Plymouth county October savings bond sales at 34 517, ten month total 639 989 reaching 72 percent of the 1975 quota. Allamakee leads Iowa at 97 percent with Cass Hamilton Cedar Shelby and Muscatine also high. Iowa ten month total 84 799 878. Bonds touted as Christmas gifts and available at local banks in bicentennial design envelopes.

Rural Home Culture club Christmas luncheon held

The Rural Home Culture club held its Christmas luncheon on December 5 at Ramona Weenink's home with co hosts Irene Harris Arley Philips and Esther Neunaber. Members answered roll call with a childhood Christmas gift. Gifts were exchanged and donations given to Cherokee Mental Health Institute.

Book and Thimble Christmas Luncheon Held

Members of the Book and Thimble club gathered December 16 at Vivian McPherson’s home for their annual Christmas luncheon with Esther Ferguson co-hosting. Eighteen members shared favorite ornaments, recounting Christmas memories, as Helen Adams and Gwen Jurgens presented Charm of Christmas Past. A Christmas collection benefited the Cherokee Mental Health Institute, and Ruth Mitchell will host the January meeting with a book review.

Blood donors at Akron hospital reported 49 donations on December 16. The Siouxland Blood Bank of Sioux City acknowledges donors from Akron including La Nay Welch Richard Oetken Nancy Ann Koch Marjorie Dykstra and many others.
