Farmers Seek Benefits Under Corn Loan Plan
Des Moines dispatch reports 41 of Town 99 counties show official seals as farmers pursue corn loan benefits. W. P. Adams of Odebolt leads a large loan secured for storage on his 6,500 acre farm, with 301,320 bushels sealed. Iowa loans total over $300,000 in a week, with predictions of up to $1,000,000 daily by week’s end as officials project $40 to $60 million for Iowa. Each bushel yields 45 cents upon signing, with terms if prices rise or fall, and 75 cent Chicago price triggers mandatory sale. Plymouth county and others organize warehousing and sealers to begin issuing loans and enforcing the program.
