Ladies Auxiliary Visits Regal Manors Nursing Home

The Ladies Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 915 spent an evening entertaining Regal Manors residents with games and prizes funded by the auxiliary. Attending members included Beatrice Sorenson Selma Abraham Anna Christenson and Eunice Gill. The post will hold its December meeting December 13 at 8 00 PM with District President Marge Christensen making her official inspection. Serving committee members were Effie Bird Esther Miller Corinne Milburn and Margaret Rosenbaum.

Rites Held for Mother of Akron Resident

Mrs. George Donnelly 76 of Elk Point died November 25 at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness. Services were held November 28 at St. Joseph Catholic Church Elk Point with burial in Calvary cemetery Sioux City. Survived by four sons Lawrence John Joseph and George Jr all of Elk Point four daughters Mrs John Maloney Watertown Mrs Ruth Buckholz Denver Mrs Helen Dirks Akron and Mrs Doris Grobeck Fremont Neb a sister Mrs Jay Lund Allen Neb a brother Herman Elk Point 30 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Joni Eilers Crowned Union County Pork Queen

Union County Pork Producers with Jefferson Chamber of Commerce held a cake and sausage appreciation night in Jefferson on November 24. Joni Eilers was chosen 1974 County Pork Queen with Angela Corio as runner up. Misa Eilers won a $50 bond to compete at the state contest in January. Corio won a $25 bond. About 100 attends enjoyed cakes and entertainment. event to become annual.

CPR Training Session at St Joseph Mercy Hospital Sioux City

St Joseph Mercy Hospital sponsors an emergency program on December 11 1978 from 7 to 9 pm in the Social Hall. The class is open to the public at no charge with demonstrations and hands on practice using a life like manikin. Instructors from hospital departments will teach signs of respiratory problems and cardiac arrest plus proper remote cautions and methods. Class size limited to 30 with registration through the Social Services secretary at 277 7107 or Information Operator at 277 7124.

Safety council warns motorists not to mix snow tires

The Tire Industry Safety Council urges radial and bias ply snow tires not be mixed. Council Chairman Malcolm R. Lovell Jr compares mismatched tires to wearing shoes with different soles. An NHTSA advisory says radial snow treads should be used on cars with radial tires and many states do not recognize radial tires as snow tires.
