New Maximum Tuition Rates Established For Iowa
The State Superintendent of Public Instruction sets 1964 65 maximum monthly tuition for resident students in other districts. Elementary 44.78 dollars, junior high 67.17, high school 78.37, versus prior year 43.95, 66.90, 76.90. Receiving districts charge either prior year per pupil cost or the applicable maximum, whichever is lower. Sending districts may pay higher than the maximum if the prior year cost exceeds it. The rates derive from a percentile based classification of schools with 1000 to 14999 population, using elementary as base and determining high school at 1.75 times the elementary rate and junior high at 1.50 times.

Local golfers lose to LeMars by 15 to 9 score
L W Koch of Akron shot a 70 to lead a golf round, while Plymouth county farmers totaling 70 were urged for appointment as field supervisors in corn acreage and hog production. In Moville a Tri State horseshoe game saw Calvin’s Shavers of Akron sweep Moville four straight. Wesley W. Greene dated August 5 1934. A son was born to Mr and Mrs Albert Erks on August 10 1984. Officials voted to drop Sioux City and Omaha from the route due to low interest and reroute southeast from Canton South Carolina to Des Moines. Orin Harris fetched ten dollars per hundredweight for a high grade Hereford cattle lot at Sioux City market. Fifteen Boy Scouts with Scoutmaster Bohman and Rev. Poppenheimer camped at Lake Okoboji for three days. Dr J H Kerr had a Buick Six rebuilt into an enclosed car for fall and winter with a heater. Fifty years ago a large crowd gathered for Akron versus Jefferson at the Union County Old Settlers picnic in Riversioux Park. Jefferson won 3 to 1 with all runs in the sixth, Akron’s lone run in the ninth. Pitchers Joe Maillette for Akron and Klein for Jefferson. John C Ruble’s Ford sustained front end damage after hitting a weed-hidden culvert while turning. A severe windstorm spared Akron but damaged property east and southeast of town on several farms. Heavy rain brought visitors from Nolan Alaska to see relatives.

Record Soybean Stocks On July 1 Reach 171 Million Bushels
Illinois farmers report soybeans totaling 171 million bushels as of July 1, 26 percent above last year and 8 percent above the 1958 date record. The supply should cover domestic needs and exports through October 1 with a carryover of 45 to 50 million bushels, much higher than last October’s 16 million. Government ownership of carryover arises from price support loans pegged near 2.30 dollars per bushel.
