The U S C A July 1 estimate of 54.5 bu per acre should rise with August growth. Heavy July rainfall in Monmouth Grinnell Redwood Falls Waterman aids yields though moisture remains short in northern Minnesota. Oats and soybeans also look strong with high acreages.
A forecast of record soybean production surpassing 1958's 674 million bushels is noted. In Okishoma a report from August 6 shows four-fifths of corn past dough, half of sorghum headed, and two-fifths of cotton setting bolts with adequate moisture.
