Tragic Train Accident Leaves Man Amputated After Fall
Verne Swift was severely injured alighting from a freight train returning from a Hawarden dance. his right arm near the shoulder was amputated. He suffered scalp wounds and bruises while three companions escaped injury. Relatives filed suit for 40000 against the Northwestern Railroad over a Galva grade crossing death in 1961 and another daughter was seriously injured. A Read comedy was staged at the opera house as a fund raiser for a ball park grandstand.

The U S C A July 1 estimate of 54.5 bu per acre should rise with August growth.
