50 Years Ago Tragic Akron Auto Crash Kills Johnson Family
The 1913 accident near Galva Iowa claimed Mr and Mrs Aaron F Johnson and two daughters Florence and Dorothy aged 9 and 5 as their car collided with a passenger engine at a railroad crossing half a mile west of Galva on their return from Kiron Iowa. Fern, another daughter, is noted in the report.

Terribly injured was the only survivor of the crash. Mr. Johnson, regaining consciousness, died about an hour after the accident, Florence died en route to Sioux City hospital. Mr. Johnson worked in real estate with A. L. Yeaton. The Plymouth County Sunday School Association’s 13th annual convention was set for August 16-17, 1911 at Akron Baptist church. H. B. Thomas died at Medical Lake Washington after a stroke. he was W. W. Keech’s brother in law. Married couples Wes Port and Mrs Clara Barr Akron August 9 1911 Elk Point South Dakota.
