Chatsworth residents hosted and visited family across Iowa and Wisconsin. Guests included John Miniets and Lewis Strand. Elsie Jacobs joined Frank Hemmelrick hosts for suppers. Delights featured in Toledo area circles, trips to Janesville Wisconsin for Gordon Vetos wedding, and multiple family picnics at Hawarden and Akron.
Penny Caudill and Gary Griffin exchanged vows on July 23 at Stone Lodge in Akron. The bride's gown was white quiana knit with a white picture hat. mint green carnations and yellow rose buds highlighted her bouquet. Officiants included maid of honor Sharon Kelly and best man Mike Diffenbaugh. brothers of the bride were ushers. A reception and picnic followed. the couple will reside in Sergeant Bluff after a trip to Kansas City and Worlds of Fun. Out of town guests hailed from Summerville South Carolina Milner North Dakota Louisiana and Bellevue Texas.
Jolee Peters of Hawarden has been named an admission counselor at Buena Vista College by President Keith Briscoe. A 1977 Buena Vista graduate with a 4.0 GPA in psychology and sociology, she recently completed coursework. Peters previously coordinated Open Line in Ames, supervising about 100 volunteers at the information referral and crisis intervention center.
Mr and Mrs W L Mitchell of Akron will mark their golden wedding anniversary with an open house on Sunday August 15 from 230 to 430 pm at the new Community Senior Citizen Center in Akron. The couple married August 15 1927 in South Sioux CityNeb and have lived in Akron their entire married life. Ruth Mitchell a registered nurse ran an Akron insurance agency for 35 years. W L Mitchell a retired electrical contractor serves on the Plymouth County tax review board. Both are active in church and community affairs.
Mr and Mrs Ted Hayden of Westfield celebrate 25 years of marriage with an open house at their rural home on Sunday August 7 1977 from 2 to 5 p m. They were married August 9 1952 in Fremont Nebraska and have lived in Westfield 21 years. Their children are Dale of Sioux City and Teresa at home, with granddaughter Stephanie Hayden.
Nursing home residents peeled apples and helped prepare meals at St Paul Lutheran. A varied program including piano, flute and baritone horn solos entertained all. Visitors from Akron Remsen and Sioux City called on friends and family. Birthday celebrations, bingo, ice cream social and thanks to donors filled a busy week.
