The Register-Tribune advertises subscription prices with yearly rate two dollars, six months one dollar, and three months sixty cents. The paper is published every Thursday in Akron Iowa and entered at the Akron post office as second class mail matter dated September 26 1901.
Donald McDougall left Monday for Montana and will visit relatives. Marguerite Martin, in nurse training at St. Joseph's Sioux City, returns for a three week vacation with her parents. Mrs. Bert Lawrence of Wibaux Mont. was here for her father’s illness near Elk Point. LeRoy Ross underwent a minor eye operation in LeMars and is recovering well. Congregational church services resumed after a two week vacation. Lilly Mae Schulz visited grandparents Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Lilly. Mrs. Cecil Harrington attended her mother’s birthday in Sioux City. Mr. and Mrs. Chris Ross and son John from Minneapolis visited in the Fred Ross home. Alma Vane and Dorothy McDougall visited in LeMars and Sioux City. Thos. Warren moved from Akron hospital to St. Joseph's Sioux City for further treatment and an operation planned Thursday. Ed. McCue hosted St. Catharine's Guild with many out of town visitors. Next meeting August 11 in the D. F. Connolly home with committee in charge. Helen Nelson to visit from Eagle Grove. John Mansfield staying with son Leo. Lavon Hough hosts Ladies’ Day. other locals hosted guests for Sunday dinner. Carl Kaek, formerly in Sioux City, left for Ashton Iowa for a teaching position at a new parish school. A daughter was born to Nela Sorenson of Sioux City. Mrs. Will Henhing of Parkersburg and Mr. and Mrs. Al Lubbers visited L. C. Huebsch and family. later visited Mrs. Iblings in Sioux City. Mrs. Herman Moss and daughter visited relatives. Mrs. Clarey and Jimmy dined with Will Buryanek in Vermillion, South Dakota.
Milnerville Special Correspondent reports a week of intermittent rain followed by heat, with threshing delayed by wet grain. Farm families and townsfolk travel to Sioux City and area towns, attend reunions, and plan camping at Crystal Lake Nebraska. Hospital stays, vehicle accidents, and local visits weave through weekly social updates.
Special correspondence reports no Sunday morning services and a Sunday school at 10 o clock. The Ladies Aid meets Thursday August 11 at the Hall with Mrs Albin Carlson hosting. Union Creek picnic set for August 18. Local residents and visitors are noted in a series of social calls and gatherings including visits to Akron Sioux City Hawarden Alcester and notations of refreshments at a community picnic.
Weekend visitors and hosting at multiple homes in Akron and nearby towns include Mrs Art Claeys, Miss Madeline Claeys of Akron, Vera Stely from Sioux City, Carol Corbett from Sioux City, Lloyd Fickhohm home, H R Anderson and Norma of Sioux City, Bertil Westin and son Bernie of Sioux City, Eddie Wedmark of Algon, Mrs Wm Evigon and Hannah Sellberg, Teckla Anderson, Mrs John Lindborg ill at Adolph Wiberg’s home, Wayne Waterman of Sioux City, and others. Dinners, birthday observances for Mrs Forlund and Bertil Westin noted. August 18 Union Creek picnic announced. next week’s paper to carry program. Loyal support for home dealer.
Westfield notes include correspondence with Howard Nernog, who spent several days at the Finebsed home. AMS and Mrs Will Paylor, along with Miss Marjorie Halfwassen of Waterloo, were mentioned in the exchange.
