Mrs Emma Robinson of Portland Oregon visited sister Mrs Annis Cramer at the Cramer farm and returned to a western ranch. Richard Milner and family made trips to Sioux City while Audrey Milner’s glasses were broken twice in the mail. Many neighbors and relatives appear in town and area news with births, marriages, visits, and harvest reports as summer continues.
Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Moe returned from a visit among their Sioux City children. Junior Sunday school reports weekly meetings with teacher Mrs. Rose Shearer. This week Mary Jane and Shirley Luchsinger hosted, then Marie and Carol Jensen were to entertain on Friday August 9. Mrs. Mary Tracy visited in Salix with Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy. Ladies Aid met at Wm. Christensen home with plans for August 8 pot-luck at Community Hall. Wilbur Harrington returned from Iowa City for a vacation then to Omaha for a baking company job. Mrs. D. F. Cassel visited Sioux City. Mae Anderson visits Fern Anderson near Akron. Lester Boyd family and Mrs. Christy Moffatt travel to Montana and Oregon, visiting relatives in Salem Oregon.
Mrs L C Huebsch hosted Trinity Lutheran Ladies Aid with Rev H Meske as guest. William A Heffernan and daughter from Waterloo visited Bert Howard. Mrs Frank Smith and Mrs L C Huebsch held a stork shower for Mrs H Taylor. Threshing dominates the day. Alvin Henrich first through. No yield report available.
Mrs Bill Crow and children and Mrs Frank Jeffers visited Henry Crow in Chatsworth Tuesday. Alex Hecht of Chicago stayed with Emery and Alex Klemme. Leora Laughton of Elgin township visited B J Borchers and Marbach homes. Elmers Hoffmans and Ruth and Wilma Marbach visited Wilbur Dodge in Sioux City. P C Kallsen of Le Mars visited Jesse Kallsen. Fred Renken and sons with Eilert Miller and sons Clifford were present.
Union Creek church holds Sunday evening services at 8 o clock. Junior Mission Band meets Wednesday afternoon August 7 at Luther Hall. Numerous local residents and visitors were listed as dinner guests and callers at various homes, with several households noted for shopping, housework help, or family visits in the area around Union Creek.
Special correspondence reports a string of weekend and midweek social visits around Garland. Sioux City guests include Mr and Mrs Dick Marple and families at George Wilken’s. Ripples show Roy Skinner at Dick Hamilton’s and Eddie Lewison hosts with Evert Johnson. Merrill Indiana visitors A A Lang and John Rush call on Dick Hamilton. Lloyd Heldt and Stella Fickbohm visit Eddie Lewison. Frank Noggle calls at Martin Johnson home and helps with harvest.

Raymond Hamilton family visited Mike Hultgren home. Mrs Lars on and Minnie Mattson of Nora called Tuesday. Hart Hamilton, aviation mechanic student in Tulsa, returned home by motorcycle last week.
Millard Wakeman and family visited Mrs. Wakeman's parents at Hudson on Sunday. A H Pilla was a Sioux City visitor last week. Fred Vogelzang and family visited at Rock Valley on Sunday. Gordon and Bobby Adams stayed with the Nap Lamoureux home near Sioux City all week. Mr and Mrs Ole Lee visiting Charlie Larson and helped with threshers early in the week. D K Bennett party went to Humboldt S D Sunday to visit Dr Roland. Crops look fine in that area. Billy Schumacher of Sioux City visited grandparents at the Hotel then left to hitchhike back to Sioux City. Jake Vogelzang is in South Dakota running a tractor for a combine outfit. Flossie Early returned from attendance at summer school and will spend rest of summer at home. Shirley Rice visited Lois Jean Harris a couple of days last week. Seal Van Sickle of Hawarden was in town on business Tuesday. Threshing is in progress with farmers disappointed in crop quality. Yield is fair but grain is light. Wheat tests No 3 and 20 bushels per acre. barley No 2 and 40 bushels per acre on the Bennett farm.
Mrs Anna Barker and Miss Esther Frerichs visited in the George Fara home Tuesday afternoon. Mrs Chris Hasenbank is on the sick list. Mrs J A Gabel enjoys a visit from her sister Mrs Wm O'Neal and family of San Francisco. Mr and Mrs Wm Barinsky and family were shoppers Monday in Le Mars. Mr and Mrs Henry Cassen andInterpreting continued.
Special: Over 25 000 Iowa boys and girls are invited free of charge to attend the fair on its opening day Friday August 23. An elaborate program is planned including daylight fireworks circus features and diverse attractions for children under fifteen years of age.
Family and Mr and Mrs Wm Lubben and their sons spent Sunday afternoon with Fred Haage Jr in his home. Geo Rembe owns a new Plymouth car. Frances Jean and Florence Robinson were Thursday visitors with Rosie and Lillian Beech. Mildred Detkin assists Mrs John Pierre with housework.
