Control of creeping jenny through field bindweed rotation at SDSU

South Dakota State College agronomy researchers report a practical rotation to suppress field bindweed or creeping jenny since 1926. For well watered areas plant winter rye followed by sorghum or Sudan grass. for arid regions use rye and summer fallow with a duckfoot cultivator. Continuous cycles cut infestation by 75 to 80 percent at low cost. Winter rye smothers and starts in fall as bindweed begins dormancy. a duckfoot cultivator keeps land black and prevents weed resurgence. Patronize your home merchants.
