Westfield Church Groups Schedule Guest Day and Meeting

The Congregational Ladies Aid Society meets at the church on May 4 at 2 p.m. for Guest Day with the overseas bendage project part of the afternoon. The Catholic Daughters of America plan a parish hall gathering May 1 at 7 p.m. George Webern returns from Veterans Hospital improved. The Open Spring Deanery meeting of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women was held at Gehlen High School LeMars on April 20 with Father Dean Walker preaching about obedience to authority.

Spring Deanery Meeting at Lemars Opens Parish-Wide Report

Edith Gant opened the Lemars spring deanery meeting after lunch with prayer and the pledge. Reports from parish chairs covered organization development public relations Catholic Charities and foreign relief spiritual development and other areas. Father Richard Birdsall spoke on Catholicism in the South noting poverty and need for teachers. The session closed with hymn coffee and door prizes, with attendees from Akron Westfield and area parishes and a parish exhibit on past year's works.

New Juvenile Titles at Akron Public Library

Akron Public Library received many new juvenile books for kindergarten through fifth grade. Notable titles include The True Book series on animals and birds, The Holiday Book of Jewish Holidays, Spring Holidays, Jelly Bein Reilly, Laura Ingalls Wilder classics, Captain Jack, A Kingdom in a Horse, The Great Dane Thor, Ginnie and The Cooking Contest, Magic Maize, The Truck and Bus Book, and The Bug Book. Wool payments sent to producers under 1960 program

The Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service reports 6 780 083 dollars in wool and unshorn lamb payments were sent on April 6 1987 to producers who filed 1960 program applications. Lamb payments require 30 day ownership and no showing. Wool support price remains 86 cents per pound with 1 cent rise over 1968.
