Mr and Mrs Gerald Henrich of rural Akron celebrate 35 years of marriage with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 24, at their home. Guests invited. no gifts. Hosts are children Mary Kathryn Jewell Anita Reed Rochelle. The couple were wed April 21 1942 at St Patrick's Akron. They farm near Akron and have four grandchildren.
Karen Gronemeyer and Greg Brown were married April 9 1977 at St John s American Lutheran Craig Iowa. The ceremony at 2 p.m. featured double ring vows in a yellow floral decor. The couple, both of Sioux City, are the daughter and son of Wayne Gronemeyer and Norman Brown. The bride wore a white quiana gown with lace embellishments. Attendants included Sheryl Norton and LaVonne Willer with mint green gowns. Best man Stephen Haupt and Tom Kiley served as groomsmen. Reception for 200 followed at the church parlors. The bride is a dental assistant and the groom works in computer service. they plan to reside in Sioux City after a Colorado wedding trip.
Mr and Mrs Glenn Wakeman of Akron celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner on Saturday April 23 at the Biltmore in Sioux The couple wed April 25 1927 in Stanley North Dakota and later settled in Union County South Dakota before retiring to Akron Their children Colleen Demaree James Doris Miller Barbara Linden and 16 grandchildren are listed.

The Plymouth County barracks 1507 and auxiliary held their April meeting at the Le Mars Eagle club room. After a noon potluck, a 1:30 p.m. business session installed 1977 officers for the barracks and auxiliary. Last Sunday guests in Griswold Iowa included Mr and Mrs Eldon Small Grace Small and Ramona Govig. They also visited Red Oak relatives and Ponca Nebraska hosts. The Radio Hamboree at Sioux City drew about three hundred amateurs. Arbor Day noted and a library computer update discussed.

Miriam Small and Mrs. Dwight Sherri Fickbohm of Akron attended the Sioux area chapter American Red Cross spring water safety instructors course. The training was held at the Red Cross office and the South Sioux Neb city pool.
Akron family members celebrated the 87th birthday of Mrs. Charlie Jurgensen on Sunday April 17. Attendees included Mr. and Mrs. Blake Larson, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Plueger, Joshua, Joel, Elmer Jurgensen, Rodney, Valerie, Vernon Jurgensen, Philip, Randy Johnson and Amy, Arlene Frerichs and Ken, Arlen Nannen, Ella Nannen, and Anna Meske.
Akorn nursing home in Akron saw many visitors including Mina Wang Ed Larson Sophia Larson and Gladys Nygard and Max Rawlings from Sioux City. Hope Circle from Brule Creek Lutheran showed a film High on the Wind Rivers. Bingo was played with apples and oranges as prizes.
