New NDEA Amendments Fund 410 Institutes for Teachers

The National Defense Education Act now supports about 16 000 elementary and secondary teachers to pursue advanced study in social sciences and humanities at 410 institutes nationwide funded by the Office of Education. Programs run five to seven weeks mainly in summer at 247 colleges and universities with Iowa sites at Iowa State University Ames and the University of Iowa Iowa City.

Civil Service Exam Open for Clerical Jobs Nationwide

The U S Civil Service Commission announces a nationwide clerical exam for federal agencies in the Washington area with salaries from 3680 to 4000 annually. High school graduates may qualify for an 8680 post at age 16. Applications due May 8 1965 with test in June and lists ready by August.
