They planned May Day hospital noteups and bead earning steps and voted to name their group Ki Cu Chu using Indian words from Camp Fire books.

The Campfire Girls met at Mrs. VanderHelm home in April with 11 girls. Brenda Faulkner was elected secretary for the group named Ma-ke-ga. They sang, played two games, and Mary Dirks brought treats. A hike is planned for next week.
The first meeting of the Junior High Camp Fire Girls was held at Mrs. John Harvey's home. Officers elected include President Shelly Harvey Vice President Pam Ludwig Secretary Debbie Wilcox Treasurer Debbie Caskey and Scribe Jo Lynn Black. The group made Easter baskets for the Nursing Home and chose the grotto name Nan Ku Lua.
The Junior High Damp Fire Girls met at 4 on April 6 with president Kathy Zinn presiding. Roll call and discussions covered new business. Members planned small crafts for the next month, made felt baskets, and chose their Mother's Day project and Indian names. Torch Bearer's Desire was recited. Lynette Gouge provided treats.
The Gay Blue Birds gathered at Mrs. Jim Small's home on Monday April 11 with ten members. Highlights included a flower-themed roll call, Blue Bird Wish recitation, Mrs. Manley's reading of The First Umbrella, place mat coloring, table setting lesson, Brenda Lee Erks supplying treats, and the Magic Ring Song. The next meeting is scheduled for April 18 at Mrs. Manley's.
A new state plan for public assistance grants will start in county welfare offices May 1 as Iowa meets federal budgeting requirements. Ringstead Town Board of Education announces R D Gustafson of Ringstead Town will serve as Superintendent of Schools for the 1966 87 year. Gustafson, age 41, has led Ringstead schools as superintendent for four years and with his wife and four children plans to move to Akron by July 1 seeking housing. He holds a BA from Buena Vista College and an MA from Drake University earned in 1946.
Iowa public schools show nine year growth in guidance programs aided by Title V A of the NDEA. In 1965 66, 304 districts or 65.1 percent had programs, while only 11.5 percent did in 1957 58. Larger districts with 500 plus students all had programs, and SP 563 pushes shared staffing. The system employs 643 counselors and 84 teacher counselors with an average salary of 7686 dollars. most are men and over 40 percent have contracts beyond 190 days.
Camp Fire Girls of 6th grade met at Mrs Huls home April 1 with Mrs Onnen assisting. Officers elected and group named Ma nuhwe. April 8 second meeting with seven girls present, two absent. Officers listed include Jeanne Hull president Valerie Small president Marvin Hurrig secretary Ellen Schneider treasurer Glenda Bull scribe.

County extension director Lyle Mackey says fact sheets and materials from the Iowa State Employment Service are available and extension offices statewide act as information centers for training. The program offers job training and pay while trainees live away from home.
