Three Plymouth county Farm Bureau families will host foreign students during the IFBF international student weekend from April 25 to 27. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Easton of Merrill, Mrs. Roderick Eyers of Le Mars, and Mr. and Mrs. J. Clark Tindall of Le Mars will serve as hosts to acquaint the students with American agricultural and rural life by inviting them to stay in Iowa farm homes for a weekend.
The Siouxland Health Planning council board of directors will meet in regular session on Monday, April 14, at 7 30 p m in the SCHP conference room in Sioux City. On the agenda is consideration of the areawide comprehensive health plan and an updating report on health service designation.
The Siouxland Health Planning Council invites the public to review a proposed area wide comprehensive plan for Cherokee Ida Monona Plymouth Sioux Woodbury counties in Iowa and Dakota county in Nebraska. The meeting is Thursday April 10 at 1 30 p m in the conference room at the Siouxland Health Planning office. The plan document will be available at the meeting.

Westfield Community school board to meet Thursday at 8 p.m. Kindergarten Round-Up will be held all day Wednesday April 16. Miss George and Mrs Solkolowsky to conduct hearing and speech tests. the school nurse will check vision. Mrs Buryanek, the kindergarten teacher, will assist new entrants this fall to become acquainted with surroundings as they start school.

The engagement of Kathleen Marie Nelson and Eddie Elvin Hopp is announced by her Brainerd parents. He is the son of Elvin and Mrs Hopp of Akron Iowa. A June 21 wedding is planned. Kathleen is a Brainerd high school senior and works at West Side Cafe. Eddie, a 1973 Brainerd high school graduate, works at Sports Supply of Brainerd.
The Iowa State University chapter of Phi Kappa Phi initiated 314 members at Memorial Union on Thursday evening April 3. The class includes 188 undergraduates, 111 graduate students, 12 faculty, and 3 alumni the first year alumni are invited. Charles E. Harris and JoAnn Tindall are among those initiated.
Akron hospital auxiliary held its regular meeting March 31 at 7 p.m. President Lu Loetz led the session. Lorraine Rye reported the treasurer’s balance while Miriam Hemmingsen noted secretary duties. Eva Knapp announced April 7 bake sale time schedules. Plans for the bake sale and a new emergency sign were discussed. Marge Dykstra photographed hospital board members for paper coverage. Next meeting set for April 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the hospital. Audrey Kjose, publicity chairman.
Carla Hansen and Curtis Winquist, both of Akron, united in marriage March 29, 1975 at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Ralph Bur dette and Rev. Ken Lewis officiating. The couple, their families, attendants, and a reception at First Baptist followed the ceremony. The bride, a 1972 Akron Community School graduate, works at Akron Savings Bank. the groom, a 1970 graduate, farms northwest of Akron. They will reside at Route 2, Akron.
A tailoring update for senior 4-H'ers and leaders, led by Susan Merkley, will take place at the extension office meeting room on Wednesday evening, April 16, from 6 30 to 10 00 p.m. The session covers conventional and fusible unstructured tailoring techniques, shortening garment construction time. Attendees will review new notions and fabrics offered by Vance's Dry Goods of Le Mars.
Herman W. Huck Milbrodt 58 of Akron died April 7 1975 in his apartment from an apparent heart attack. Services were held April 9 at St John s Lutheran Preston township with burial in the church cemetery. He operated a feed grinder and leaves seven brothers and five sisters among survivorsPlus many nieces and nephews.
Elmer A. Van Beek aged 44 of Marion South Dakota formerly Hawarden died of an apparent heart attack at Freeman hospital on April 5 1975. Services were held April 8 at the American Lutheran church Hawarden with Rev James Sandvik officiating. Burial followed at Grace Hill Cemetery Hawarden under Dow Funeral Home direction. Survivors include his widow three sons a daughter a grandson three brothers including Peter Van Beek of Akron and four sisters.
Alde Opera Howe Theatre announces final 1974 75 season production a comedy farce See How They Run planned for the weekend of May 10 directing duties assigned to Mrs Joyce Hutchins Le Mars.
