The Register-Tribune lists Ray A. Smith as publisher and publishes subscription rates for one year two dollars six months one dollar and three months sixty cents. It notes publication every Thursday in Akron and that the paper is entered as second class mail dated Sept. 26 1901.
Special correspondence from Milnerville covers road conditions, snowfalls, and local travel delays. It lists residents visiting Sioux City Yankton and Rapid City, jury selections, health updates, farming news, social club activities, and staff changes at International Harvester in Rapid City.
Mrs Cecil Harrington and family joined a birthday party at the Maloy home in Sioux City for Patricia Maloy’s anniversary. The next St Catharine’s Guild meeting is April 9 at Jno Bertrand's home with Mrs Bertrand as hostess. LeMars visitors included Mrs G W Maysonholder Mrs Wm Seyler Sr Wim Seyler Jr and John Luken. Mrs Wayne Jilly hosted the Bridge club Friday afternoon.
Bliss home reports visitors and family travels from Pierce City Missouri. Community club events include officers elected for the Tuesday club and a ladies bridge at St. Joseph’s hospital in Sioux City. Town election keeps the Citizens ticket in office with Mayor Connolly and a slate of council members. Several residents move away while others recover from illness. Local students participate in spelling, reading, and health lessons.
Westfield School notes report a successful Spring Festival despite rain with large crowd and profits benefiting the high school activity fund. Major Boos and amateurs presented a lively program, with a popular side show, booths, and a duck pond. The Debate Club elected Louis Bertrand president, Marie Jensen as VP, Mary Catherine Beaubien as secretary. seven two member teams organized for a debate tourney on mastering a practical trade before graduation. The Senior class chose The White Elephant as their play, coached by Miss Vant Hof. Raymond Conway and Louis Bertrand represented Westfield at the County Declamatory contest in Merrill. The school thanks all who donated goods and food. Westfield Mercantile Company signs off.
Fred B Wolf publisher of the Primghar Iowa Bell announced last Friday his bid for the Republican nomination for Congress in the Ninth district ahead of the June primaries. A lifelong O'Brien county resident, Wolf built a long career in newspapers and chautauqua work in Cedar Rapids and Sanborn, Iowa. He has served in state politics as a legislator helper and is described as progressive in farming road improvements and primary reforms.
