Walter Cassel arrives from Yankton for a several day stay with his parents and relatives in the area. The community notes a Ladies Aid meeting, church activities, birthdays, and guests visiting from Sioux City and Des Moines, with school events and local social gatherings filling the week.
Westfield High School students joined the Home Economics club for a Thursday evening social in Community Hall on April 2. The event funded curtains for the Home Economics room and featured refreshments after entertainment. Miss Alice Vant Hof sponsors the club. Plymouth county nurse Miss Hazel Roberts spoke to Civics on first aid to reduce fatalities, while Supt. G P Littelle leads highway safety studies. Seniors begin work on the play The White Elephant.
Milnerville residents hear about family visits sickness and local ventures. Lucile Briggs visits home folks while Bonnie and Gloria Milner quarantine with grandmother. Isabel James remains ill in Rapid City hospital. Bob Feick earns superior in district music contest in LeMars headed to state in May. Old Style Inn opens at 417 Douglas with Heideleberg beer and kitchen fare. Easter plans include family gatherings and church attendance.
Special correspondence column notes Mr and Mrs Alex Klemme dinner guests of Henry Plueger. John Tsitouras stayed overnight with friend Daryl Jeffers. Mr and Mrs Ben Toel were Friday visitors in the Ruble area.
Sunday visitors included Mr and Mrs Ed Lewison with Chas Reames and Naomi. Mrs Dick Hamilton and Mrs Wm Skinner spent Tuesday with Mrs Carrol Hamilton. Herman Jacobs Sr lost his garage and tools to fire Monday morning but nearby buildings were saved. Frank Noggle of Elk Point visited Tuesday.
Miss Mabel Friske shopped in Sioux City Tuesday. Mildred Frerichs returned home last Wednesday after appendicitis. Mr and Mrs Fred Hillriechs shopped Akron Monday. Calvin Robertson with Robert and Richard Kluver visited Art Gabel Sunday. John Tammen home Friday hosts Mr and Mrs John Popken and Ramona, and Mr and Mrs August Osterthun with Dick Renken. Orin Harris called in Sioux City last Friday. Marjorie and Darlene Robertson of LeMars spend Easter vacation at home.
Easter Sunday services at 11 a.m. and Sunday school at 10 a.m. The Luther League basket social is set for Tuesday April 14 in Luther Hall with prizes for the top basket and the highest bid. The Ladies Aid bake sale happens Saturday April 11 at the Weidenfeller market in Akron.

Albert L Crabtree of LeMars Iowa announces his candidacy for Plymouth County Sheriff subject to Republican voters will at the June primary. He invites support from party members and outlines intent to seek election through the party process.
