P T A events in Hancock township include district meeting in Sioux City and a new district officer. Founders Day and school board work combined with fair attendance. Crouch family pioneer died in Hollywood. Postnuptial shower for Joyce Strong. Lines move to Pierce street apartment. Mystic Isle school wins P T A membership contest. John Lackman joins Hancock township school board. Milner family updates, farming, and local visits fill the week.
Sub Billy joins Liberty Consolidated team trip to Sioux City for a tournament. Roy and W W Logan and Mrs Cassen visit relatives in Sioux City and Morningside. Milners visit Akron hospital. Mrs Milner improves and returns home with plans to recover. Hoffman children ill. Emmet Tracey hosts pot lunch. Mrs P Tracy and D Stewart family visits in Denison and Harlan. Gordon Hummel rents Doyle building to start garage and shoe repair business.

Mrs Henry Mulder a Sioux Center mother of several children died in Hull after five gallons of gasoline used for dry cleaning blankets exploded in a kitchen washing machine. The blast shattered windows and burned her body as a child and another relative helped. She died at about 8 p.m. in hospital. Grace Mulder a nurse assisted her during her final hours. The fire gutted the washroom and kitchen. The incident warns against using gasoline indoors for cleaning.
Westfield High School welcomed Mr Weeks and Mr Sterzing of the Iowa State Highway Patrol as guests Friday afternoon. Sterzing spoke on highway safety stressing correct driving and accident prevention. The visit was requested by Supt G P Littelle as his Civies class studies car driving.

Gertrude Beaubien was absent Monday due to illness. Mary and Ernest Meins entered our First grade last Monday. The Manual Training boys made a flag stand and silk flag now rests on a small stand at the west side. Our latest mumps case is Miss Dennler who became ill Saturday. Miss Brennaman from Cleghorn is covering.
