Pioneer Peter Myers Dies at 82 in Lockwood Corners

Peter Myers aged 82 died Friday evening at his daughter Mrs Sowers residence in Lockwood Corners. A lifelong Summit County pioneer and a United Daughters resident he is survived by his wife 73 a daughter Mrs Sowers and a son LS Myers of LS Myers & Co Alan. The funeral will be held Sunday from his daughter’s residence at 1 80 pan.

Bad Men McKnight and Wright Held Over for Suspected Theft

George McKnight and James Wright were jailed for 30 days in City prison by Mayor Doyle on Thursday for being suspicious characters after they were arrested while disposing of shoes. Police believe the shoes came from William A. Straub of Barberton. A separate report from Doylestown notes two bolts of cloth stolen from a store there. One man talked with the owner while the other allegedly carried goods. both will be fully investigated.

Largest Akron Excursion to Cedar Point Sends Two Special Trains

The Wer ner Co. organized the year’s biggest Akron outing to Cedar Point with almost 1,400 participants. Two special trains were required, one carrying ten cars and the other nine, departing Union depot at seven. The Eighth Regiment band accompanied the trip.

Mystery Surrounds Death of Mrs Long in Barberton

In Barberton a woman named Mrs Ann Long died after a Friday night visit from John Lee. An inquest and post mortem were conducted as investigators sought the cause of death amid rumors of Lee’s role in an attempted divorce from his wife. Lee, 45, said he paid $4 to Mrs Lang for a ride to Akron, then escorted her to his home where she collapsed. Police and a doctor were summoned. the post mortem aims to uncover the mystery with no clear cause yet determined.
