A cold snap driven by air from north of Manitoba lowers temperatures with overnight lows in the mid 40s and daytime highs around the mid 70s. Developers and Greater Aiken Chamber of Commerce representatives joined City of Aiken Planning Commission members to discuss an ordinance guiding large commercial developments. The chamber favors changes to avoid stifling future business, while the city debates a proposal from former commissioner Miles Hall.
Former Aiken Planning Commissioner Miles Hall resigned saying the commission lacks leadership and forward motion on a proposed big box ordinance. Ed Woltz challenged the claim, while Ed Grobbe was nominated to fill the vacancy as the council weighs the matter.
The FCC said it will seek fines up to 120000 dollars against telemarketers who call numbers on the national do not call registry. The move comes after court rulings and a stalled FTC enforcement, with the list more than 50 million numbers strong and set to take effect Wednesday. Bush praised action to reduce unwanted calls while courts review the program.
