Counties push back as SC primary price tag rises
County leaders in South Carolina threaten legal action over the proposed presidential preference primary costs. Officials say there is no clear statutory authority for county or state election bodies to fund the contest. The GOP says the state and party will cover most expenses, with an estimated total around 1.3 million dollars, while counties fear bearing substantial unreimbursed costs.
