AT&T job cuts hit two South Carolina plants
AT&T plans to split into three companies with 1100 plus job losses at the Liberty and West Columbia plants. The Liberty plant will close by year end ending personal and notebook computer production. West Columbia will shed about 80 jobs this year with some cuts into 1996. Workers receive severance and six months health coverage, and AT&T will open a job placement center.
