Navy Yard gunman heard voices before rampage
Aaron Alexis, the Navy Yard gunman, told Rhode Island police a month earlier that people spoke to him through walls and ceilings and sent microwave vibrations to stop his sleep. Investigators found no political or religious motive. Alexis, 34, had mental health issues, including paranoia and a sleep disorder, and used a valid Navy Yard pass to trigger the deadly attack.

Navy Yard shooter’s gun laws loophole exposed
Aaron Alexis had a history of violent outbursts and was in early treatment for mental problems. He bought a shotgun in Virginia without out-of-state handgun restrictions, exploiting the 1986 Firearms Owners Protection Act. Virginia requires only ID and a background check for shotguns, and Alexis faced no prosecution for two gun-related misdemeanors.
