United Way Campaign Hits $84,000 In First Push
Owens-Corning plant manager Robert Hrubala announced progress with the line Here s the beef at the kick off luncheon. The Advance Gifts division has already exceeded its goal by collecting 840 000. Campaign chairman Charles Eason praised the effort and urged volunteers to secure support from two industry executives Jeanne Utroske and Jim MeIntrye as the year s goal of 840 000 was set, up 100 900 from last year.

Trials Set In Federal Court Term To Open Monday
Several civil and a criminal case are slated for disposal in the upcoming federal term to begin Monday at 10 am and run through mid October. Jury trials include Thomas vs Osteen and Knox vs Osteen over a June 1982 S C 125 collision near Jackson. The criminal case is interstate transportation of stolen vehicles. Civil actions also include C Itoh Industrial Machinery Co v Emile Coutrue on an account, Beattie v Nationwide Insurance over a fire loss payout, Banks v Patel over unpaid commission, and Vance v Independent Life and Accident Co over denied policy benefits.
