Hodges urges broader drug coverage for seniors in S.C.
Gov. Jim Hodges told the South Carolina Silver Haired Legislature that the senior prescription drug program must expand and Medicaid be restructured to give states more spending flexibility. He cited the SilverCard success and a federal waiver to extend coverage to about 90,000 seniors, while noting a gap for middle income seniors. The group backed bulk drug purchasing and a more flexible Medicaid, and Hodges urged laws against telemarketing fraud and predatory lending.

Budget board Democrats resist immediate cuts in BEA forecast
