Graniteville wildfire swells to 500 acres as crews hold line

About 200 firefighters from local and state agencies battled a wildfire threatening Graniteville homes and businesses. By late Wednesday the blaze was contained between lines set by the S C Forestry Service and the US Forest Service. A shift in wind early today raised new concerns as humidity dropped.

Kids with matches blamed by police

Graniteville two 12 year old boys were detained for questioning after authorities say they started a fire while playing with matches behind an apartment complex. They were released to their parents with no charges filed. Firefighters continue to battle a blaze that has burned nearly 500 acres along the Aiken Augusta Highway and Robert M Bell Parkway.
