Firefighting continues as 250 acre blaze rekindles near Graniteville
Two 12 year old boys were detained for questioning after authorities say they started a fire behind Kalmia Apartments in Graniteville. Fire crews fought to contain a wildfire burning about 250 acres along Aiken Augusta Highway, Gregg Highway and Robert M. Bell Parkway. The blaze prompted evacuations of USC Aiken campus housing and nearby residents. Firefighters reported 95 percent containment by Thursday afternoon and warned of rekindling as winds shifted and humidity stayed low.
