Ballet Events Continue The Centuries Of Dance
Two upcoming events in Aiken highlight ballet history and performance. The Embassy of Denmark presents Dancing Bournonville at USC Aiken on Oct 17, and Dance Alive from Florida performs Nov 29 as part of USC Aiken’s Cultural Series, with a daytime workshop at Crosby School of Dance. The piece also traces ballet’s evolution from the Renaissance through Diaghilev and beyond, ending with notes on pointe work and toe shoe care.

Quincy and Minnie Kennedy marked 65 years of marriage as Graniteville’s First Baptist Church mourned their long service. The couple, longtime Graniteville residents, were honored at a gala hosted by Aiken Nursing Home staff with guests from the church and community. A matched pajama set from Lionel Smith Ltd and Julia's Dress Shop was gifted. The Kennedys ran a Graniteville substation of Thomas Laundry and dedicated themselves to church work, teaching Sunday School with Kennedy serving as deacons chair and, recently, Sunday School superintendent retiree.
