Richardson files to run for Aiken County Board of Education Seat 7

James T Richardson of North Augusta announces his bid for the at large Seat 7 on the Aiken County Board of Education against Geni Rhodes Anderson. The 52 year old veteran of Area 2 advisory council submitted a petition with 48 names to qualify for the November 6 ballot. He is a North Augusta resident of 26 years, Atlanta native, married with two children and a member of St Johns United Methodist Church. The weather outlook for tomorrow favors heat, with a high near 90 and mid 60s tonight, followed by a mostly cloudy extended period with a chance of showers and 70s highs Thursday through Saturday.

Graniteville Police Coverage Strain After Company Pullout

Aiken County Sheriff Ralph Gunnells notes response time to Graniteville calls has risen since Graniteville Company ended its police protection on July 1 and took 13 officers away. Woman 82 Is Sentenced For Selling 97 Valiums

An 82 year old Aiken woman Rosa Lee Medlock was sentenced to 10 Tuesdays in jail plus an $800 fine after pleading guilty to selling 97 Valiums. Judge Rodney Peeples warned that further offenses would bring maximum penalties and possible prison. Medical treatment was allowed, but probation was not typical in drug cases.
