Cingular wins permit for Whiskey Road tower after six day edge
Aiken County memo shows Cingular Wireless filed its permit for a 150 foot tower behind Dunagan's on Whiskey Road six days before council first reading of a tower ordinance. Planning officials approved revised site plans on July 20 and issued the permit on July 26 amid questions on legality and pending ordinances. Dawn Benton of Cingular says the tower will improve downtown and south side service while Dunagan plans tree plantings to shield the base.
