Charleston Bridge Blast Demolishes Pearman Span into Cooper River
A controlled explosion sent a 500 ton 500 foot section of the Silas Pearman bridge into the Cooper River as part of demolitions after the Ravenel Bridge opened. Workers used 2250 pounds of charges while tugboats retrieved debris and safety limits protected the area.
