Temperatures Begin Climb In Mid-Atlantic Forecast

Prosecution Opens In Second Day Of Downs Murder Trial

In Aiken County General Sessions court the prosecution outlined its case against Francis Arthur Downs's wife Mrs. Downs for murder. The defense relies on house defense and self defense, citing a harmful confrontation over custody of their 3 year old son. Aiken County investigator Ronald Gunter testified about Mrs. Downs statement detailing the night of the shooting and the sequence leading to Downs being shot as he walked toward the house.
