Justice Department says an opinion on whether Congress can extend the ERA ratification deadline is due within 10 days. Atty. Gen. Griffin Bell noted staff have worked on it for about two weeks. The seven year limit began in 1972 and 35 states have ratified. three more needed by March 22, 1979. Bell spoke on NBC Meet the Press.
