I-20 crash claims life of Alabama woman from Warrior

A 11 p.m. two-vehicle crash on I-20 West near mile marker 36 killed Stephanie L. McCoy, 22, of Warrior Alabama. Briana McCombs, 22, of Hayden Alabama, survived with life threatening injuries after her Toyota Corolla struck a tractor trailer. The tanker driver, Lewis Hill, 45, of Florida, was unharmed as authorities investigate factors. no alcohol or drugs suspected.

The Carolina Pine Quilt Guild hosts its 30th annual Quilt Show November 2 to 28 at the Aiken County Historical Museum with amateur and professional categories judged by Lynn Burke of Columbia. Entries accepted Oct 16 to 23 at the Aiken Quilt Shoppe. proceeds support the museum.

Beloved Aiken Mare Maggie Passes at 36

Maggie the Percheron draft horse that guided riders at Hitchcock Woods for decades died at 36 after a long life with Arden Morgan and three generations of local horse lovers. The famed mare welcomed children and photographers, enjoyed sweet grass and carrot treats, and remained dignified to the end.

Plant sale at Aiken High to fund FFA trip

Aiken High School hosts a greenhouse plant sale Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon with mums and pansies grown by eight FFA students. Proceeds help fund travel to the National FFA Convention in Indiana later this month. Prices range from 3 to 14 per item. location is 449 Rutland Drive.
