Astros Outfielder Hidalgo Shot in Venezuela Injury Update
Houston Astros news states Richard Hidalgo sustained muscle and nerve damage from a shooting during a carjacking in Venezuela last week. Two team physicians evaluated him after returning to Houston with numbness and weakness in his left hand and fingers. Additional nerve and circulatory tests are planned over 10 to 14 days with potential surgery to explore the nerve, and doctors are cautiously optimistic he will be ready for spring training next February. The incident occurred near his Valencia home, about 90 miles from Caracas.
