George Simpkins of Edgefield died Wednesday in an Edgefield hospital. Funeral arrangements are by Anderson Funeral Home, Edgefield County. He lived in Aiken for nine years and was a retired Westinghouse supervisor. Surviving: his widow Meelpje Snook Zock, a daughter Anita L. Furesi in Old Bridge New Jersey, a son Richard Zock in Montgomery Alabama, and a sister Wilhelmina Zock in Amsterdam Netherlands. Memorials to Cancer Society suggested. Friends may call today 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Fires And Stabbing Keep Police On Run

A Thanksgiving day afternoon saw a stabbing of David Thacker in Aiken by his wife Sarah Thacker 34. Deputies arrested three Augustans for larceny from an auto and two 15 year olds for unlawful burning with other youths involved. Police report several woods fires near residential areas and a gunpoint incident in which a man was forced to call an Augusta boss to ensure a prisoner’s release. Traffic incidents were mild and DUI arrests increased.

South Carolina man held in Rocky Mount girl's death

Colley Thompson, 17, of Ef fingham South Carolina, was charged with murder in the shooting death of 18 year old Amy Breedlove at a Rocky Mount self service gas station. He was returned to Nash County and held without bond, with a preliminary hearing set. Investigators said about $200 was taken from the register after the shooting.
