Funeral services for William Roy Thorpe Sr. 54 of Windsor will be held at 3 30 p m today at Beulah Baptist Church officiated by Rev Kenneth McDonald. Burial in church cemetery pallbearers named. He was a retired rural delivery carrier, former book store owner, lifelong St Thaddeus member and Knights of Pythias charter member. Surviving include widow Ruby Holloway Thorpe son James Thorpe and three sisters and brothers with grand children. Friends may call at home or at George Funeral Home Aiken.

Explosion Kills Two at Claxton Poultry Plant

Four killed in Chicago phonograph shop holdup blaze
Four persons died after two gunmen held five robbery victims in a South Side Stop Record Shop washroom and set the store afire with gasoline. Two survivors in the washroom, badly burned, said they attempted to break out when they smelled gasoline and smoke before the blast buried victims under debris. The blast cause was not determined.
